First Steps in Learning
Supporting babies and toddlers up to two years our Ladybird room invites children and their families to begin their nursery journey in a welcoming environment that has been carefully designed to focus on the three prime areas of learning. Soft furnishings create and warm and cozy yet spacious environment. It hosts a soft play corner for the youngest of babies to safely explore the early stages of movement, this area comes equipped with a ballet bar mirror for little ones to pull themselves up on and show an interest in their reflection developing social interactions with adults and peers. As babies grow and develop they are able to explore the cruising platform to support early climbing opportunities.
Babies are free to explore a range of small world and role play resources encouraging even our Littlest of Twisters to develop imaginative play continuously extending on and developing vocabulary as they play. The Ladybird room also hosts early construction and everyday objects for babies and toddlers to investigate sparking connections and new interests.
Finally the Ladybird room hosts a comfy reading corner with access to stories that toddlers can share with adults, their peers and independently. Within this area is an inviting sleep section with individual pods and nursing chair to soothe and aid children to rest.

Where Toddlers Grow and Explore
Supporting toddlers from two years the Caterpillar room is a bright and the central room within the nursery. Continuing the fundamental learning we have designed specific areas of learning within the room to promote independent learning. Children are encouraged to explore the art and craft area freely creating their own masterpieces to share at home or within the nursery. We have a corner platform slide providing opportunity for children to climb and move in different ways practicing and enhancing gross motor skills. Children explore the role play and small world areas where they can recreate home experiences enhancing social interaction amongst each other. We finally have a spacious reading area with a section of stories to share in a variety of ways continuing the theme of encouraging early literacy skills as children are encouraged to look at and listen to a wide range of books and stories.

A World of Imagination and Learning
This exceptionally large room is divided into multiple areas to support children’s independence as they reach the preschool environment. The high ceilings create a light and open environment which children are encouraged to explore around a carefully planned routine that provides structured learning opportunities encompassing all seven areas of learning and development.
This large space hosts a roleplay village underneath the ‘regulation’ platform. Children are able to further develop physical skills by climbing the stairs to spend time exploring sensory resources before whizzing down the slide creating opportunities to develop confidence as they move in different ways.
The role play village boasts a bakery, clothing store and supermarket as well as a police station, allowing our pre schools to think creatively and heighten their imagination.
There is an extensive messy and free flow art area with a wide and varied range of resources supporting all abilities and themes throughout the nursery aiding creative development.
Moving on from this is a small world station, construction area and investigation station, all displayed to encourage exploration and develop problem solving skills.
Children have access to specific literacy and mathematical areas, these are used for planned activity times as well as child initiated play experiences.
Finally the Grasshopper room hosts an expansive reading area that is used for large group activities such as registration time and our daily “wake up-shake up” sessions. This area provides space for children to explore a wide range of fiction, non-fiction as well as picture books expanding curiosity for all ages and stages of early reading.

The cosy communal sleeping area!
Presenting a projection ceiling, soothing sounds and dimmed lighting, the cosy communal sleeping area for our Caterpillar and Grasshopper children allows time for relaxing and sleeping leaving them re-energised for the rest of their day.

...and extra curricular activities!
At Little Twisters we understand the importance of children exploring the world around them and accessing fresh air every day. The NHS recommend that a child should be active for a minimum of 3 hours a day, we adhere to this through numerous activities in the spacious garden with mixed terrain offering a range of experiences on the enclosed decked area for the babies and younger toddlers. There is a soft tarmac area for fully mobile children to explore on bikes, trikes and on foot using various equipment to create obstacles.
Finally we have a grassed area housing a multi-level pirate ship with slide, swing and a range of climbing opportunities for all children to enjoy.
Throughout their time in the garden the children enjoy planned activities exploring different ways of moving supporting their gross and fine motor development, as the crawls, climb, catch and throw.
Children who attend Little Twisters are also very fortunate and are able to explore the soft play centre with whom we share a building with. Children are able to explore a range of climbing frames, sensory rooms, mini golf and a role play village to spark imagination in a variety of ways.
Older preschool children have access to a Valor play experience testing cognitive skills whilst maintaining physical activity and of course having fun throughout.
